Classes

Learning argentine tango is not a linear journey. You will not step into these classes and have patterns to memorize or counts to follow. Argentine Tango is about lead and follow. Both roles are important and they both have their own skillset. When you start here you will learn the building blocks of the dance and a foundation to build it upon. These are the exact skills you’ll use in real social dancing environments—milongas, the worldwide social gatherings for Argentine tango dancers.

Basic Foundations to Argentine Tango

Embark on your Argentine Tango journey with our 8-week "Basic Foundations" course, designed to introduce you to the essential elements of this beautiful, expressive dance. You’ll explore the core foundations of tango: the embrace, connection, and the art of walking with your partner.

Alongside these essentials, you’ll develop skills in musicality, posture, awareness, and foundational movements like *corridas* and *balanceos* to deepen your understanding of tango.

While Argentine Tango is a lifelong endeavor that goes beyond a single course, this class will set you on the right foot, providing a solid base for your continued growth and enjoyment of tango.

Turning Fundamentals

Turning Fundamentals is designed to build on your foundational skills to deepen the connection of your embrace to every step. While refining your understanding of tango posture you will be introduced to one of tango’s most essential elements: molinetes/giros. Each class within this course offers a chance to enhance your technique and expand your movement vocabulary, connecting more fully with both your partner and the music. It is encouraged that this course be repeated for ongoing growth and skill refinement.

*Social dancing is a requirement for this course

Tango Explorations

Tango Explorations invites you to deepen your tango practice by building on foundational skills and expanding your experience of the dance. Each session will offer a different topic to further your understanding of how the dance works socially. Some topics to dace include: Milonga, Vals, Sacadas, Linear vs Circular movements. Each class encourages you to refine, experiment, and grow, offering new challenges and insights with every repeated session.

FAQs

No partner needed! We rotate partners in class so everyone gets a chance to dance. Many people join solo — and we create a welcoming, inclusive environment from day one. Daniela does her best to role balance all classes.
If you’re brand new, start with our Basic Foundations course. More experienced dancers can join Tango Fundamentals or Tango Exploration.
Comfortable clothing you can move in — no need to dress up. Think of it like going to a movement or yoga class, but with partnering.
Not at first. Just wear shoes that stay securely on your feet and allow you to pivot (no sticky rubber soles). You’re welcome to bring dance shoes if you already have them, but they’re not required to start.
Classes are held at SNAP (Scottsdale Neighborhood Arts Place 4425 N. Granite Reef Rd. Scottsdale) with plenty of free parking available.
These courses are designed as a series and dropping in is not permitted. Enrollment/registration is necessary.
For all 8 week courses 50% is refundable after the 1st class. There are no refunds after the 2nd class. Classes are not cancelled. If there is ever a reason for class to be cancelled an additional class will be added.
